La silla que cura | Buenavida

Nos piden una silla que inspire, quite el estrés, la tristeza y haga olvidar los problemas… Una silla que cure.

Como materia prima la fundación nos entregó un par de viejas butacas y elementos eléctricos y metálicos (de un viejo robot) soldados entre sí. Construimos una sola silla con las dos butacas para darle mayor tamaño, conservamos los movimientos propios de las sillas de teatro y complementamos su funcionalidad con estructuras de madera reciclada. Pintamos el cuerpo con el mismo color que la fundación utiliza en su logo y para darle un alma, decidimos entregar una tela blanca y pinturas a la fundación para que los niños pinten lo que les alegra, lo que les motiva en el día a día. Con estos lienzos llenos de vida y alegría se tapizó la silla.

Se incluyó además luces estroboscópicas y una estructura metálica con ruedas que pudimos rescatar del robot; todo fue conectado a un sistema eléctrico con un switch en el asiento. Como elementos nuevos instalamos una pizarra de tiza y una máquina de burbujas. Como detalle final pusimos un juguete que a la mayoría de niños y adultos les saca una sonrisa: un cojín de pedos. Cada vez que alguien se sentaba en la silla, sonaban fuertes flatulencias y se accionaba automáticamente las luces estroboscópicas y la máquina de burbujas.

The Cecilia Rivadeneira Foundation (CRF) embarks on a new project: a play, where the actors are children with cancer. The project seek monetary funds, but at the same time wants to raise awareness about this disease. Also seeks to inspire, comfort and entertain people. The advertising agency “Santuario” was responsible for carrying out the conceptual idea and thus "The chair that heals" was born. They asked us for a chair which inspires, removes stress and sadness and make forget about any problem… An authentic chair that heals.

As raw material the CRF gave us a pair of old theater seats, as well as electrical and metallic elements (from an old robot) welded together. Then we built a single chair with the two seats to give it greater size, we keep the characteristic movements of the theater chairs and complement their functionality with recycled wood structures. We painted the body with the same color that the foundation uses in its logo and finally to give it a soul, we decided to give CRF children a white cloth and paintings, so that the children paint what makes them happy and motivates them day-to-day. The chair was upholstered with these canvases full of life and joy.

We also included strobe lights and a metal structure with wheels, which were rescued from the robot; all this was connected to an electrical system with a switch on the seat. As new elements added, we installed a chalk board and a bubble machine. As a final detail we put a toy that most children and adults take a smile out: a cushion of farts. Every time someone sat in the chair, strong flatulence would sound and the strobe lights and bubble machine would be automatically activated.
